Rewe claims to outpace competitors

Germany’s third-largest tour operator Rewe expects its package tour brands to grow faster than the overall market once again this year. Mainstream brand ITS has notched up a five per cent sales rise for family holidays even though this sector is declining for most of Rewe’s competitors, new boss Sören Hartmann said at ITB yesterday.

Overall, the three brands – ITS, Tjaereborg and Jahn – have achieved a 5.2% rise in customer numbers but only a marginal 0.1% revenue increase because of lower prices. The Balearics, Egypt, Germany, Sri Lanka, Cuba and Thailand are all growing well, said sales and marketing director Ralph Schiller. He added that there will be no more price reductions this year.
